@mom, it’s completely not weird to have your clitoris be painful to stimulate. The clitoral hood (that bit of flesh that’s actually visible most of the time) is there to protect the nerve-laden clitoris. You have to pull back the hood to see the little nub that is your clitoris. Personally, I find that direct stimulation to the clitoris is extremely uncomfortable and sensory overload, whether aroused or not. I can’t even deal with marked pressure on the clit with the hood down while I’m aroused, though suction is a completely different story. ~.^ Lots of women prefer indirect stimulation, just as long as there’s stimulation!

I LOVED watching that tape - it’s still on the shelf at my parents’ house. I’ll probably have it copied to DVD for my children when I have them. Throughout the years (and I’m currently 19), I’ve had hours-long, candid conversations with my parents about the mechanics, biology, theology, morality, and every other view of sex that we could possibly think of. I’m probably one of the best-informed teens out there about sex. But that didn’t stop me from losing my virginity at 15 years old to my boyfriend. (Who is my current fiance, by the way.) However, it did keep me from doing it because we were bored or something equally as stupid. We had been together for 2 years by then (in a long-distance relationship no less), and I was in a difficult emotional situation at the time, facing the imminent death of my grandfather. I needed the emotional support and connection, to know that I could be completely vulnerable and he would treat me with love and respect, and I got just precisely what I needed that day. But I’m weird, and very few girls (or boys!) will have such a supportive first experience, much less be engaged to that person four years later without being pregnant. (I’m not.)

Inform your children, let them know your views, but give them the information to educate and protect themselves if they decide to have sex anyway. I know I will!
