God Says Do It! Seven Days of Sex

While we’ve been accused of being Godless heathens here at MTSS, our cast and crew ranges from atheists to evangelicals. That’s why I’m delighted by Rev. Ed Young’s challenge to his married parishioners to have sex for seven consecutive days with their spouses. It’s nice to hear that sex is being encouraged in arena that often avoids the topic. That’s right, I am too much of a wimp to keep up with this. Now go on and actually read the bits below.

SFSI was founded in 1972 as an information and referral switchboard providing free, confidential, accurate, non-judgmental information about sex. Volunteers undergo extensive training in all aspects of human sexuality, including reproduction, birth control, safer sex practices, HIV, gender identity, and sexual orientation.

SFSI offers a free phone switchboard staffed by trained volunteers six days a week. If you have a question about sex, they’ll either answer it or refer you to someone who can. Switchboard staff can recommend resources (like books and websites) that may help find the information you are looking for. If you prefer email, you may email SFSI instead at questions@sfsi.org. Note that for urgent questions, you must call the phone switchboard.

Here’s what SFSI switchboard volunteers have to say about this partnership:

Is Your Parent Planning a Trip to Nebraska?

Nebraska’s current safe haven law does not have an age limit. That means parents from all over the country are abandoning children and teens at hospitals for the state to take. While lawmakers rush to change the law so that it only applies to infants, you might want to think twice before embarking on that hastily planned family trip to Omaha.

The New Yorker had a piece last week on the disparity between sexual attitudes of religious teens, and their actual sexual activity. Having grown up in a conservative area of the Midwest, I know that often what was preached and practiced did not coincide.
