The Talk
“The talk of Britain this past weekend was whether or not a 13-year-old boy named Alfie is the father of a one-week-old baby girl. Alfie and Chantelle, the 15-year-old mother, say the baby is his, but two other teenagers have been stepping forward to say that they, too, had sex with the girl around the time that the child was conceived.”

I’m so glad you guys continue to work with this format and expand the ways that you reach out to people! I’m also glad that you post the recorded shows after the fact, as it is the only way I’m able to see them and I find them enjoyable and informative even when not live.
And while I appreciate Guy’s pro sex worker rant about the waste of law enforcement resources to bust consenting adults in an activity that can be quite harmless, I don’t know if the scanty information, at least as provided by the Sun-Times article, painted a sufficient picture of an abuse of power disguised as a child-prostitution sting as Guy seemed to apply. But perhaps I am more sensitive, as my corner of the world is alarmingly the center for much of the exploitation (is it our proximity to Asia and Russia?) and my sister, who works with high school students, has several girls that she is keeping tabs on that are suspected to be at least occasionally exploited as child prostitutes, an alarming circumstance for a girl like me who came from a very secure and protected world that geographically is only a dozen miles removed from where her students live, but clearly was in a different universe in terms of frightening possibilities.
I’d love to see far greater resources directed at busting abusive johns and pimps, freeing undocumented and underage sex slaves (and providing the necessary therapeutic resources to allow them to function in society), providing recovery programs for prostitutes who have turned to the trade to fund drug habits or a sense of too few other employment options, as well as better nonjudgmental health-care access and avenues for hookers to press charges when abused without fearing arrest or condemnation for the work they do, and I know that there are plenty of sex-positive free-willed sex workers out there who enjoy the work, but I remain uncomfortable with the practice, not because I believe in the immorality of sex between consenting adults, even with a financial transaction involved, but perhaps because I associate it with infidelity, a practice I do not condone, and a certain degree of male sexual irresponsibility and unaccountability, which may be a prejudice on my part, but I have difficulty seeing the whole enterprise as being completely benign even at its safest levels…
